About
Welcome to the "About the AWF" section, by clicking here you must be
interested in our history ( if u want news click news!) So here I go on a
journey of describing our Amateur Wrestling Federation the best i can without
using images or videos.
There is an profound, complicated, bizarre and extensive history about the AWF
behind all the hardcore fighting and mayhem. So here you are still reading this
stuff ( you must be interested ) so it is about time for me to stop stalling and
get the complete and somewhat complicated story of how the AWF came to be...
The birth of the AWF was not too long ago, in fact it was about somewhere in
late 2001, but there was something that led to the birth of the Amateur
Wrestling Federation and that is the pre wrestling league we so lovingly called
RWL. RWL stood and still stands for Retarded Wrestling League. Although a very
childish name it was a brand of amateur sports entertainment that caught the
attention of both the young and old members of our community. The RWL originated
when myself and a very close personal friend who is a outstanding athlete in the
AWF today got thinking after viewing an electrifying segment of WWF's Smackdown.
After seeing the Undertaker last ride Spike Dudley though two tables we got the
an intense urge to rough each other up. So following up on this urge we put on
our shoes and ran up to a neighbors house and jumped on his trampoline and
started flinging each other around.
We took a strong interest in the art of wrestling, and a few broken teeth,
bloodied nose's and intense bruises later the Retarded Wrestling League was
born. My best friend and I practiced every day after school in a quest to be
superior wrestlers. Eventually when other people saw our rapidly growing talent
they gathered around the trampoline to watch. Not to many of our fans were
willing to step onto the bouncy surface with us... except one. That is correct,
originally the RWL consisted of three wrestlers, but just before we made the
transformation to the AWF the RWL recruited young prospects and intensely
trained them. Once they felt their skill and ability far surpassed that of their
embarrassing battle field ( trampoline) the not so super stars of the RWL took
their fighting to a new level and a far more un forgiving surface... the
backyard.
Along with the scenery change and the name of the federation changing from
Retarded Wrestling League to the Amateur Wrestling Federation came the rise of
young sure to be superstars. Also many big names changed in an attempt to leave
our "Retarded" days behind and move forward to the new generation.
By big names changing i mean that of *The Lost Cause* changing to * Mad Dog
Madden *, another name change was that of * Devastation * changing to * Colin
Van Dam * and along with that particular name change came a completely new style
of fighting.
When the RWL moved to the back yard and became the AWF the former fans gained
far more interest in the AWF than they ever did on the RWL, we the superstars
think the reason of that is the frequent use of steel chairs, metal sheets,
ladders, tables and a far more elaborate storyline and setting. When our level
of wrestling became better so did the music, costumes and wrestling ring. Much
like the music and costumes ect. we became far more talented than we could have
ever imagined. With the AWF continually improving our fans grow in numbers and
our passion to entertain burn's hotter and brighter than ever before.
